Why Is The Pro-Life Movement So Important?

In 1973, the end results of Roe v. Wade was the landmark decision that protected a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion without interference from the government.

Depending on who you talk to, they will focus and promote the aspect of protecting a woman’s right to do what they want with their body; being able to choose what you want, and unburden yourself from raising a child when you're not ready. Or maybe the reason is because a woman doesn't feel like they can financially support a child or there's no support system, which are real situations that people face.

However, there are tons of organizations out there who exist to assist women in their pregnancy crisis situations - whether she is looking for pregnancy testing, or she simply needs a supportive group of people who genuinely care and who will assist her, empowering her to choose life for her child.

When a woman is in a tight bind financially, some of these organizations can assist with paying a rent bill, gifting them home appliances, or free baby supplies. Individuals who support these organizations financially often donate items women may need, or they donate money to enable the organization to gift these women with what they need to thrive as a mother.

There are many other things I can touch on such as our bodies are the temples of the Lord, for those of us who are a part of the household of faith, therefore, we don’t make our own decisions apart from God (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20). But for those who are not children of God, they do make their own decisions about their body and the life that’s inside them.

So why is the pro-life movement so important? If a person doesn’t belong to God and therefore makes their own decisions about their body, why should we stand up and proclaim the truth? Why should we be involved in our culture and stand against abortion?

I could say several things to answer these questions, but first I want to say that, abortion is straight-up murder no matter how you slice it. Whether someone had an unplanned pregnancy, it was planned, or it was as a result of rape or incest, abortion kills the baby. Yes, incest and rape are horrible and sensitive matters, but it doesn’t change the fact that abortion is murder.

Psalm 139:13, 14a says, “For You formed my innermost parts; You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;”

I work with a pro-life organization and this past weekend we hosted our third annual march. We marched and publicly stood for life, celebrating the gift of life, and praying against the evil of abortion.

One aspect of my job includes sidewalk counseling where I stand in front of our local abortion faciltiy and offer free resources to women that are going in. There have been countless women who were able to choose life instead of aborting their babies, and there have been stories of people who discover exactly what abortion is because of the impact of someone praying outside of the abortion facility. Many don’t know what abortion is, so it’s important for people to be educated on how it kills a person. A real person who’s growing in their mother’s womb. A person who has a God given purpose.

The pro-life movement is an important movement to fight against the evil of abortion, to educate society on what it is, and to be there for women who need help.

Jeremiah 1:5a asserts, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;”

God has a plan and purpose for every child that is conceived, and the enemy has used many in the earth to destroy countless lives.

I am passionately pro-life because God is passionately pro-life, and in the end God’s truth shall prevail. We may or may not see an end to the mass killing of babies before Jesus comes back, but He is able. I believe that God can move upon the hearts of men, and even the most radical pro-choicer or the most committed abortionist can have a change of heart and turn towards God and truth.

I pray America and the world at large will wake up and see the evil of abortion, and that as a result we will weep as God weeps, and that we might see the beauty of life, from conception until natural death.

We are not alone in the fight for life, because God is for us. He goes before us, and He is all powerful and all knowing, so yes, the prolife movement is important, and God is on the move, so stay strong and fight the good fight. Whatever your involvement may look like, always remember to pray. Prayer is crucial and God hears and answers, especially when it’s according to His will. We may never know the power of our prayers, but be encouraged that our prayers are powerful.

So remember that the prolife movement is important, no matter what you hear or see, and All Life Is Beautiful.

In Christ's Love,
Gabrielle
